Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker – Book review
February 20, 2010 by Renee
As promised I have read the book “Secrets of the millionaire mind” by T Harv Eker. What do I think about it? Actually, besides the ongoing advertising of his courses I quite liked it.
Secrets of the millionaire mind – what is the book about?
In case you are looking for the secrets to making a million cash in a very short time, then this is not for you. “Secrets of the millionaire mind” focuses on the mind, on your mindset and the differences between the mindset/thinking of rich people versus poor people.
And as in my post “what is wealth” T. Harv Eker also doesn’t limit wealth to financial wealth. The “rules” he points out are valid for any kind of wealth and not just limited to our financial situation.
Though Eker’s book is written about wealth, it’s actually about happiness and success.
The main content of “Secrets of the millionaire mind”
The book has two main chapters. “Your Money Blueprint” and “The Wealth Files”.
The first part concentrates on your mindset around money/wealth and how you got there (your “Money Blueprint”). He talks about the process of manifestation and how your thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to actions, and actions lead to results. He also introduces “declarations” which he uses as a tool to change your programming around money matters.
T. Harv Eker defines a declaration as “to state an official intention to undertake a particular course of action or adopt a particular status.” If you want to change your money blueprint he gives you a number of declarations to help you in doing so.
In the second part of “Secrets of the Millionaire mind” T. Harv Eker talks about “seventeen ways Rich people think and act differently from Poor and Middle-class people” – the wealth files.
He explains that you can imagine your brain a bit like a filing cabinet and that your w blueprint is stored in your “money” files. Whenever you come across any money issues you go to your filing cabinet and check under “money”. Whatever is stored there will determine your feelings and therefore your results around money.
So in order to achieve different results you need to change what is stored in your wealth files.
The nuts and bolts of “Secrets of the millionaire mind” – The Wealth files
To give you some food for thought I will list the seventeen ways T. Harv Eker describes in “Secrets of the millionaire mind” as being different between rich and poor/ middle-class people – his wealth files.
For me they contain the core message of the book that will help you to self improve your happiness, success and financial wealth over time.
- Rich people believe: “I create my life.”
Poor people believe: “Life happens to me - Rich people play the money game to win.
Poor people play the money game to not lose. - Rich people are committed to being rich.
Poor people want to be rich. - Rich people think big.
Poor people think small. - Rich people focus on opportunities.
Poor people focus on obstacles. - Rich people admire other rich and successful people.
Poor people resent rich and successful people. - Rich people associate with positive, successful people.
Poor people associate with negative or unsuccessful people. - Rich people are willing to promote themselves and their value.
Poor people think negatively about selling and promotion. - Rich people are bigger than their problems.
Poor people are smaller than their problems. - Rich people are excellent receivers.
Poor people are poor receivers. - Rich people choose to get paid based on results.
Poor people choose to get paid based on time. - Rich people think “both”.
Poor people think “either/or”. - Rich people focus on their net worth.
Poor people focus on their working income. - Rich people manage their money well.
Poor people mismanage their money well. - Rich people have their money work hard for them.
Poor people work hard for their money.
Rich people act in spite of fear.
Poor people let fear stop them.- Rich people constantly learn and grow.
Poor people think they already know.
After reading these statements, which one’s are true for you? What do your wealth files look like?
What I like about the book “Secrets of the Millionaire mind”
- Explanation about your mindset directing you quiet a lot without you realizing
- The difference between “poor” and “rich” mindsets. They are great food for thought
- The call to action for each of the mindsets with some homework to really get going
- The wealth principles–quotes highlighted throughout (like “The number one reason most people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want”)
What I dislike about the book “Secrets of the Millionaire mind”
- The ongoing reminders throughout the text to take his courses – too much advertising
- The boxes with success stories of people that have taken his courses – again feels like pure sales pitch
Conclusion
All in all I think “Secrets of the Millionaire mind” is a good book about mindset and what to focus on to enrich your life. If you want to improve yourself (and we are talking about self improvement on this blog) then I suggest you read the book “Secrets of the millionaire mind” yourself and take from it what you can to enrich your life.
So, have you read the book? Even if not, what do you think about the wealth files described in the “Secrets of the millionaire mind”? Do they make sense to you? Leave your comment below.

Hi Renee
Great balanced book review on “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”.
When we have a dream or desire and have positive seeds planted in our head that grow to our heart, I believe, we can accomplish anything we desire.
I really liked your points between the two mindsets and this sounds like a great book to read and absorb the lessons.
Thank you.

I agree with this Renee. Similar to what I read in Robert Kiyosaki’s book which I was talking about in my latest post too. I don’t know if ALL rich people act in spite of fear (I doubt Prince Charles has ever needed to sweat or take risks for his money) but what is clear is that to get to the level of the rich entrepeneur, one needs to exercise this quality!

I have also printed off the list I have enlarged each one of the positive and am going to post them around my room/office
Thank you
Hi Rita,

Hi Rene
Great book review love the list you made out of it. I enjoyed the book so much I read it over and over again and went for one of his seminars. I find feeding all these lovely ideas into the subconscious where it becomes a part of us effective.

[...] Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind by T Harv Eker – Book review [...]
Some people think that striving to achieve abundance is being greedy, but one of the secrets that millionaires know is that being prosperous allows them to give more to their fellow man. Think about all of the good that you could do for other people if you had a billion dollars.
If you keep on dreaming and imagining a Millionaire lifestyle, then you have come to the right place. Here are a few of the tips which are presented to help you become a millionaire.
You can earn money in various ways both selling products and recruiting affiliates into two tier programs. Regardless of how you choose to do it selling other people’s products is a great way to make money online because the product is already established for you.
The best way to tell is to keep away from anything that promises a quick way to make money or a get rich quick attitude. You never get anything without some type of work added in. You want a company you choose to pay you cash and not points for useless things. You need a strategy that will not require you to have your own website or products already to be sold. You need not have to hard sell anything. You are not getting yourself into more internet promotion . It also needs to be able to give you a decent amount of money for your time spent.
T Harv Eker is truly a great mentor. I am now highly confident and know my word has power and can lead easier than ever before. THank you T Harv
